If ever there were a single sentence to affirm the years of care and dedication we’ve poured into our work, it would be the opening line from Sue Cade’s Devon Life feature: “There’s an elegant shopfront on a quiet lane in the heart of Sidmouth that glints with precious metals and jewellery.” It captures, with a kind of quiet poetry, the atmosphere we set out to create, one that recalls a time when shopping was a truly tangible, sensory experience.
That sense of charm and presence guided us throughout the restoration of County House. Our aim was always to create more than just a retail space: to establish a setting where heritage, design, and practicality exist in harmony, supporting the needs of modern independent retail while honouring the character of the building itself.
We’re delighted that Sue recognised what we hoped to achieve, not only in the preserved details of the space, but also in the way the Banwells team works every day to offer thoughtful, attentive service to everyone who walks through our doors.
Our sincere thanks to Devon Life for sharing our restoration journey; one we’re immensely proud to continue.
