Brooches

Historically, brooches were a necessity rather than a style choice, holding items of clothing together or closed. As time went on they became a fashion choice, and were popular in the Georgian period. Victorians used brooches as mourning jewellery, and they often held the locks of a deceased relatives hair. The Queen is rarely seen without a brooch, and they can be a simple way of making a plainer outfit more exciting.
